Chris and Brock get diversified in their portfolio of ideas in this episode of StartUp Ideas.
Companies can not specify race, gender, sexual orientation, or pretty much anything like that on a job posting. ( Obviously for good reason because that can go very badly in terms of discrimination ) If you can't specify things like that, or hire because of any of those differentiators, how can they possibly ensure diversity in their company? You see the Catch22?
So the companies themselves cannot "discriminate" for obvious reasons, but what if there were websites like onlyfarmers.com or blackpeoplemeet.com, but for job postings and listings? Then these websites will act as a filter of sorts so that you can ensure diversity by only putting your job posting on let's say "90YearOldsFromTrinidad.com". That way you know you'll most likely get resumes from 90 years olds from Trinidad.
The company isn't doing anything wrong by only putting their job listing on a few websites. I mean, is it wrong to put your job posting only on linkedin.com but not on monster.com? Absolutely not!
So I suggest someone create these niche job websites and help both the minorities and the big companies looking for diversity in their company.
